Améfrica Press Founder, Publisher, and Editor-In-Chief, Tanya L. Saunders, Ph.D., a native of Baltimore, MD is
a Black writer, scholar, and educator. They founded Améfrica Press in 2021 to address the challenges that Black folks, in our diversity, faced in regards to publishing across language and geopolitical boundaries. The lack of diversity in publishing as it pertains to translation across the Améfricas (the Afro-Americas), is based on the notion that our stories, histories and intellectual thought were of no general interest or had no literary or intellectual merit. Dr. S decided that they could do something about that.
